Diamonds
A diamond is chosen with the eye and understood through documented characteristics. Here you will find Giavor’s guides to origin, shape, cut, carat, colour, clarity and grading reports.
Start with what matters most to you
No single specification determines which diamond will feel right. Begin with the look you want to see on the hand, set a budget for the complete ring, then compare stones on like-for-like terms.
- Origin: choose between a natural diamond and a lab-grown diamond.
- Shape: round, oval, pear, cushion and other shapes create different silhouettes and light patterns. See our guide to diamond shapes.
- The 4Cs: cut, carat, colour and clarity help you compare quality and appearance.
- Documentation: an independent grading report describes the stone, but it is not a valuation or a guarantee of origin.
Shape and cut are not the same
Shape is the diamond’s outline when viewed from above. Cut describes how the facets, proportions and finish work with light. Two oval diamonds may therefore have the same shape and carat weight yet look very different.
Natural or lab-grown
Both are diamonds. They have essentially the same chemical, crystal, optical and physical properties, but differ in origin and production. Choose according to what you value and the documentation supplied with the individual stone. Avoid broad assumptions about ethics, environmental impact or future value.
See the complete price
When a centre diamond is selected separately, the setting price and diamond price are two parts of the same purchase. Always confirm the final total, the stone’s report and what is included before ordering.
